Flower Care for fresh flower designs

*Cut flower bouquet:

  • Fill a clean vase with tepid water and add flower food packet wrapped in with flowers. Cut stems with a sharp blade and immediately place in the water. If stems are left out of water with a fresh cut, you risk the chance of an air bubble getting into the stem. Continue with tips below

*Vase arrangement of flowers and cut flower bouquets:

  • Swap out water for new cool water daily and give stems a fresh cut. Bacteria growth in the vase is what makes the flowers droop.
  • Keep out of extreme temps. Don't display your flowers directly near a heater or in a sunny window, and keep them out of the freezing cold or refrigerators (residential fridges are not like flower coolers and can damage your blooms).
  • Certain flowers, which are often the most exquisite, will naturally die sooner (think sweet peas, poppies, snapdragons), and certain flowers are much more hardy and will last longer (yet they tend to be more common, such as mums, carnations, daisies). We try to include a nice mix for a natural garden style arrangement and recommend pulling out anything that is looking wilty over time to ensure the other flowers can keep going strong!
  • Pro tip: hydrangeas can be finicky. If they start to wilt, dunk the whole flower head in a bowl of water for 10-20 minutes, then give the stem a fresh cut before putting it back in the arrangement. They drink water through their petals, and this often perks them back up!
